The ACR SARLink is the first hand-held device that combines the Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD), and Cospas-Sarsat 406 MHz networks. This PLB offers global tracking and two-way messaging through the Iridium network, whilst provides SOS features through the 406 MHz frequency.
The SARLink PLB is ideal for lone workers, law enforcement, firefighting, search and rescue, emergency medical, and other emergency service personnel.
ACR SARLink Features:
SOS Distress Messaging
Once the SOS button is activated, the hand-held device uses the Cospas-Sarsat and Iridium Satellite networks to provide precise geolocation data to assist Search and Rescue operators.
The two-way communication capability combined with the distress alerting, allows for the verification of the emergency as well as the ability to assist in the rescue by providing detailed information about the nature of the situation.
The ACR SARLink allows users to transmit Position Location Information (PLI) data at selectable intervals ranging from once per minute to once per day. Additionally, users can manually activate the 'Check-In' feature and create, save and send other users defined waypoints.
Also, the SARLink utilises an open data format protocol and supports 10 byte and 30 byte formats while also including the ability to be remotely configured over-the-air.
Through the Iridium network, the SARLink offers global two-way satellite messaging to other mobile devices including mobile phones, satellite phones and other SARLink units. These messaging options include free-text using the on-board QWERTY keyboard, canned messages, and a combination of free-text and canned messages.
Contact lists can be pre-defined and canned messages can be scripted by the system administrator and loaded across all devices. SARLink also supports email messaging.
The ACR SARLink has a IP-67 rating and is waterproof to a depth of one meter. As this PLB has been designed to be used in harsh environments, it has been tested to withstand drop, vibration, bump, corrosion, and thermal shock.
SARLink has a a high resolution color LCD Touchscreen where user menu options are displayed as easily recognized icons. The touchscreen allows quick access to user menus and ease of entering text via an on-screen QWERTY keyboard.
Charging and Battery Life
SARLink incorporates two dedicated batteries; a rechargeable Lithium Ion for Iridium tracking, texting, and distress messaging, and a dedicated Lithium battery for the 406 MHz locator beacon in compliance with Cospas-Sarsat stringent system requirements.
In the event that the Iridium battery is depleted, the dedicated 406 MHz battery will provide an independent, 24 hours of distress transmission.
