Thuraya GmPRS

The Thuraya GmPRS data service enables a continuous "always on" internet connectivity which is ideal for users who demand a reliable and convenient method of browsing the internet, sending and receiving emails and accessing other online applications. Another major advantage is that it provides capability of faster data transmission speeds - up to 60kbps downlink and up to 15kbps uplink.

Unlike Thuraya's basic data service, GmPRS data usage is charged on the volume of data sent and received rather than on the duration of the data call.

What do you need to use Thuraya GmPRS?

1. Thuraya Handset - Thuraya SO-2510, Thuraya SG-2520 or Thuraya XT
2. Thuraya SIM Card - GmPRS available on pre-paid and post-paid cards
3. Computer - Thuraya SG-2520 doesn't require a computer as it has a built in browser
4. USB data cable - included with all phones or available to purchase from Global Telesat

How much does Thuraya GmPRS cost?

Pre-Paid Cards
Pre-Paid cards incur a GmPRS activation fee of £18.00.
There is no ongoing subscription fee.
Data is charged at approximately 5 units per MB.

Post-Paid Cards
Post-Paid cards do not incur a GmPRS activation fee.
There are 3 GmPRS plans to choose from:

Light - includes 5MB - £14.00 per month in addition to basic monthly fee
Smart - includes 15MB - £39.00 per month in addition to basic monthly fee
Pro - includes 35MB - £75.00 per month in addition to basic monthly fee

Additional data is charged at £0.05 per 10kb.

Other GmPRS benefits

Free ThurayaMail
Thuraya GmPRS subscribers are provided with a free email account on ThurayaMail. The email account ID is the Thuraya number, e.g. 88216xxxxxxxx@thurayamail.com. Once your card is activated Thuraya will send you an SMS with your Username and Password. To check your Thuraya Mail please go to www.thurayamail.com.

Free ThurayaCase
Thuraya GmPRS subscribers are provided with free online storage space of 5MB. Subscribers can save files online and retreive them using any FTP client.
